In my new series of blog posts on this brand new blog (you can put the gun down now Harry), I’m going to be offering a few hints, tips and tricks to allow you to get the most out of your Enterprise, VPS or SHOUTcast services. From simple howto’s to full on tutorials into the depths of technology. The first, and most important top tip: Backup, backup and backup again!
But surely you backup all our data for us?
This is to assuage any myths, we do make backups of data, and you would be correct that the data we backup does include our customer data. However, these backups are actually for administrative purposes, we don’t want to lose our data as much as you don’t. But, just because we backup your data does not mean that you shouldn’t backup your data. Elementary logic. So hold on to your computer chairs for my 3 step guide to making your own backups!
So let’s begin!
1) Login to your cPanel and scroll down until you see “Backups“
2) On the page that appears, click the “Download or Generate a Full Website Backup” button. This will download a full backup of the cPanel account, including all files, folders, e-mail addresses, MySQL databases and anything in between!
3) On the form that appears, make sure the e-mail address is correct as we’ll send you an e-mail when the backup has been completed and click the “Generate Backup” button.

And you’re done! Repeat this once or twice a month and make sure you keep the downloaded files in a safe place and be secure in the knowledge that you are increasing the security and reliability of your website in just a few clicks!
Any questions?
